Backyard DIY Project Turns Into A Thing Of Beauty

Reddit user TheAccidentOf85 had an amazing idea to transform his hilly backyard into a thing of beauty. He wanted to create an outdoor patio, but the changes in elevation complicated the situation. He was determined, though, so he got to work.


This was his backyard before he started:

The materials arrive...


...and construction begins!







The border of the patio is starting to take shape.





Part of the patio will have these loose rocks - kind of like a grown-up sand pit.

The gravel area, finished. Complete with a fire pit! Cute dog not included. 


The rest of the patio will have these heavier tiles. Setting them down one by one...


...is a lot of work. But it'll be worth it.


All done!


I think it looks incredible! Good job! All done by hand.

The project took 2.5 months working on weekends, but TheAccidentOf86 says he didn't work every weekend. In the Reddit thread, he also mentioned that he saved $15,000 by doing it himself. Not too shabby!
